The new monastery brewery - Grimbergen Abbey Brewery - is located in the center of Grimbergen Abbey and combines the best of brewing traditions from the library's ancient scriptures with new and innovative techniques to brew unique limited-edition batches of extraordinary first-class beers. The celebration of the opening is marked by the release of three new exciting special brews - Grimbergen Magnum Opus Brut Beer, Grimbergen Ignis Quadruple and Grimbergen Astrum Pale Ale.
Marking the next chapter of a truly beautiful story of continuous rebirth and renewal, the monastery's monks have been given the opportunity to continue the legacy of generations of monks before them.
Monastery head and monastery brewmaster, Father Karel Stautemas, said: "The new microbrewery is a place where the traditions of the past can be rekindled - just like our symbol, the Phoenix bird. We will always have the strength to rise again, but also to add new thinking . We want to combine our experience, which goes back almost nine centuries, with innovation in our pursuit of the tastiest
and most unique new specialty brews."
