The new Grimbergen Abbey Brewery is located in the middle of Grimbergen Abbey. It combines the best brewing traditions from the old books in the abbey library with new, innovative brewing processes. This is how exceptional, handcrafted, limited edition premium beers are created. To mark the brewery opening, three exciting new beers were brewed - Grimbergen Magnum Opus Brut Beer, Grimbergen Ignis Quadruple and Grimbergen Astrum Pale Ale.
The new Grimbergen Abbey Brewery opens the next chapter in a truly remarkable story characterized by constant rebirth and renewal. It enables the brothers of Grimbergen to continue the traditions of previous generations of brothers.
Brother Karel Stautemas, provost and brewer of the abbey, said: “The new microbrewery is the place where past traditions are revived, just like our symbol, the phoenix. We were always strong enough to rebuild our abbey and at the same time bring in new ideas. We want to combine our nearly nine centuries of experience with innovation to brew the most delicious new beers.”
