By building a new brewery inside the walls of the abbey, we’re bringing brewing back to where it all began. Such a special moment requires the most special of brews.

In Magnum Opus, we’re celebrating what we believe is our finest work yet – our masterpiece. A crisp ale, light in colour and bubbly in appearance, Magnum Opus uses burgeoning golden malts to present an elegant and festive beer.

dry, sparkling and crisp

Delicate notes of pear, orange and vanilla are supported by a gentle, sometimes sweet, malt quality to produce delicious flavour. The overall character is akin to that of a dry, sparkling wine.

A smoky, fiery and warming brew.

the duality of fire

There is a reason that a Phoenix represents Grimbergen Abbey. Fire may have caused chaos and destruction, but it has also brought warmth and protection. A sign of life.

inspired by the spirit of the fathers

Ignis Quadruple is inspired by the Fathers’ spirit to rebuild when fire wreaked havoc on all that they treasured. Like the Abbey, it is a symbol of our light still burning brightly after all these years. Ignis means fire in Latin.

smoky, warming and spicy

Beech-smoked malts give Ignis Quadruple a smoky, fiery and spicy quality. Hints of caramelised sugars combine with notes of raisin, plum and fig, to provide a delicate, subtle sweetness in mouthfeel.

Inspired by the Fathers at Grimbergen Abbey’s famous observatory, we have been on a voyage of discovery of our own. Searching the world for the very best hops to help our brews shine bright.

galaxy hops for a perfect balance

In Astrum Pale Ale, we’ve used gorgeous Galaxy hops, imported from Tasmania, Australia, to provide a beguiling citrus aroma. And we’ve brought them together with the finest Flemish hops to create a perfectly balanced brew.

lively, fruity and refreshing

Notes of papaya, passion fruit, gooseberry and orange further elevate Astrum’s crisp character, complementing distinct spicy notes and the biscuit-like quality of our malts to produce a smooth, refreshing brew.
